New B617 Service Connects More Lincolnshire Communities

The new B617 service launched in July following calls from local residents for better bus connections, bringing together communities between Lincoln, Coningsby and Horncastle.
Brylaine Travel launched the new B617 in July, providing new and improved bus connections for communities between Lincoln and Coningsby, and between Coningsby and Horncastle.
The service operates in two connecting sections, linking communities including Lincoln, Branston, Metheringham, Billinghay, Coningsby, Tattershall, Woodhall Spa and Horncastle, alongside a number of smaller villages along the route.
For some of the rural communities served, the B617 provides an important new public transport option, helping passengers travel for work, education, shopping, appointments and leisure.
A significant investment from Brylaine
The introduction of the B617 represents a significant commercial investment from Brylaine Travel, alongside a contribution through Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding.
As an independent, family-run Lincolnshire operator, we've committed our own resources to introducing and operating the service, with the aim of building a useful and sustainable connection for the communities it serves.
New B617 Gets Lincolnshire Communities Connected
Getting a brand-new bus service on the road doesn't happen overnight, and the B617 has been a real community effort.
For some time, residents in communities along the route had been calling for better public transport links, particularly around Billinghay and the surrounding villages. Local people helped raise awareness of the need for a service, shared feedback and got behind proposals to improve connections through this part of rural Lincolnshire.
Those conversations helped us understand where the gaps were and, importantly, showed us that there were communities willing to support a new service if we could find a way to make one work.
In July, after plenty of planning behind the scenes, the B617 finally hit the road.
A community effort
We'd particularly like to thank the residents and local community members who spent time speaking to us, sharing the need for better connections and helping build support for the service.
Starting a new rural bus service is always a challenge. Routes need passengers behind them if they're going to have the best chance of succeeding, which is why seeing communities actively supporting the B617 has been so important.
