B617 – Connecting Lincoln, Coningsby & Horncastle

A new connection for Lincolnshire communities.

Launched in July 2026, the B617 provides new and improved bus connections for communities between Lincoln and Coningsby, and between Coningsby and Horncastle.

The service connects communities including Lincoln, Branston, Metheringham, Billinghay, Coningsby, Tattershall, Woodhall Spa and Horncastle, helping provide better access to work, education, shopping and leisure across the area.

About the B617

The B617 was introduced following work to improve public transport connections across this part of Lincolnshire.

The service operates as two connecting sections:

Lincoln ↔ Coningsby

via Branston, Metheringham, Walcott and Billinghay

Coningsby ↔ Horncastle

via Tattershall, Woodhall Spa and Roughton Moor

The B617 includes Hail & Ride sections along parts of the route.

This means that in designated areas, passengers don't always need to be standing at a marked bus stop. Where it is safe for the bus to stop, passengers can signal clearly to the driver that they wish to board.

Investing in local connections

The B617 represents a significant commercial investment by Brylaine Travel, alongside a contribution through Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding.

As an independent, family-run operator, we have committed our own resources to introducing and operating the service, with the aim of providing useful new connections for communities along the route and building a service that can grow over time.

We continue to monitor passenger numbers and feedback as the B617 develops.
