Brylaine brings £2 bus fares to Boston and Spalding months ahead of national change.

New maximum fares of £2 single and £3.60 return will launch on the B3 and B3X Boston - Spalding bus route from 14th September more than three months ahead of the national £2 fare cap.

Passengers travelling between Boston and Spalding are set to benefit from cheaper bus travel, as Brylaine Travel introduces a new maximum fare of just £2 single and £3.60 return across its B3 and B3X services.

From Monday 14 September 2026, passengers travelling anywhere on the B3 and B3X will pay no more than £2 for a single journey and £3.60 for a return.

The move comes more than three months ahead of the Government's new national £2 bus fare cap, which is due to come into effect across participating services in England outside London from 1 January 2027. Until then, the national single fare cap remains at £3.

Brylaine is introducing the lower maximum fare early on the B3 and B3X, giving passengers along the Boston to Spalding corridor the opportunity to benefit from cheaper travel from September.

The services provide an important link between Boston and Spalding, connecting communities including Wyberton, Kirton, Sutterton, Wigtoft and Pinchbeck, as well as providing access to employment, education, shopping and leisure.

Whether passengers are travelling a few stops or making the full journey between Boston and Spalding, £2 will be the most they pay for a single journey, while a return will cost no more than £3.60.

“With the national £2 fare cap coming in from January, we wanted to introduce the lower fare early on our B3 and B3X services and give our passengers the benefit from September.

“From 14 September, the maximum anyone will pay is £2 for a single or £3.60 for a return, whether they're making a shorter local journey or travelling all the way between Boston and Spalding.

“As a local, family-run bus company, we're always looking at ways we can make our services better value and encourage more people to make use of their local bus. We hope this will make a genuine difference to passengers along the route.”

The Government announced in July that the national cap on eligible single bus fares will fall from £3 to £2 from 1 January until 31 December 2027, with the scheme intended to make everyday journeys to work, education, healthcare and leisure more affordable. For Brylaine passengers on the B3 and B3X, however, there will be no need to wait until the New Year.
